Portraits, sketchbook and the Face of My School

I know that every one's weakness is heads, but for me its almost a phobia. I never drew people, i drew animals. So my Heads and Hands Class has been a real challenge. I really didn't want to post these but I feel like its cheating if I don't. Plus i can link back and be amazed at how much I have grown. Right? First I had to do a self portrait, which is like salt on the wound. It was more an exercise in shapes, but was truly painful. Next up we had perspective of someones heads, so here are some male heads

Also, if you ever wondered why administration is so slow? This is why.. While he lines out the door to talk to someone on the day disbursement checks are issued, here's the staffing....

Its all falling into place

Finished Self Portrait

Im not super happy with it, but not disappointed terribly either, just blah. But here it is!!

Ya my mat is terrible, I messed it up. Oh well. The project was to use a complementary analogous palette, with grey scale over lays. Got points for full range of saturation and value, minus points for presentation. lol

Midterm- Contrast Self Portrait

Ugh, midterms. This super annoying time in school cannot be denied. Oh well. He he! This is my project, not the best work I've ever done, but cool looking still. The goal of this assignment is to take contrasting colors (purple and yellow) black and white, and create a value and saturation scale to render a self portrait. I HATE self portraits. I look funny. Oh well, I like to make people laugh ;)

Ill post the finished piece soon! But Douche already said it was to "acid" looking. ok, I like saturation (color). You never said we couldnt use saturation (color). This IS COLOR and design.
